A day at the zoo...

After many weekends of travel and being stuck inside, we decided to load up and go to the zoo for the day on Sunday. We couldn't have picked a better day. The weather was beautiful, and Kolton was in the best mood. It was probably one of the best days we have had just the 3 of us in a long time, a much needed relaxing day for all of us. Kolton is so much fun right now. He really loved seeing all the animals and trying to copy the noises of each one as we saw them. In the childrens area, we happen to show up just in time for him to get to pet a baby alligator. I don't know who was more excited about that, Kolton or Dustin, ok I thought it was pretty cool too. A few of the animals were right up against the glass so we got some great pictures of Kolton sitting right next to them. Dustin was a true sport, he climed into the prarie dog tube with Kolton and through the fish tank tunnel, twice actually. The zoo was also celebrating Earth day, so we helped Kolton trace his hand and put it on the wall "helping hands". After running around the zoo, we promised Kolton we would ride the Hermann Park train. Have you ever tried explaining the "wait your turn" rule to a impatient and tired 2 year old? Once it was our turn, Kolton was so excited to go. The ENTIRE ride, he was yelling "CHOO CHOO". It was a full day and Kolton was asleep before we even got out of the zoo parking lot. I was sad to see the day come to an end, but its a day that I will remember for a long time to come. We plan to have many more of those days with Kolton before the baby comes.
